"With the introduction of the Gold Annual Pass, families can enjoy even more opportunities to visit throughout the year, from their favorite attractions and character experiences to seasonal events and limited-time offerings that make every visit feel a little different."
Dan Cuffe, vice president and general manager of Universal Kids Resort, said that when the park added a third annual pass on September 29. The timing lines up with the calendar. The park's first Halloween season opened October 2, and the Saturdays when most families are free are the days the cheaper pass shuts out.
Universal Kids Resort has been open at 1 Universal Parkway since July 1. If you live in north Frisco, it is close enough for a two-hour visit after lunch. That makes it a different purchase than it is for a family flying in for a long weekend, and the three pass tiers reflect that once you set them against the fall schedule.
Three passes, one real variable
Here is the lineup as it stands this month:
- Silver Annual Pass, $129.99 plus tax per person. Twelve months of admission, with blockout dates and no parking.
- Silver Annual Pass with Parking, $164.99 plus tax. This price was reported when passes went on sale in May. It adds regular self-parking, and blockout dates still apply. Universal's FAQ describes it as admission plus free general parking, with no other perks for now.
- Gold Annual Pass, $199.99 plus tax per person. No passholder blockout dates, regular self-parking, 10% off select food, drinks and merchandise, 10% off 1-Day and 2-Day Friends & Family tickets and Private VIP Experiences, $20 off Premium Parking, and room upgrades at the hotel when available.
Current Silver holders can move to Gold by paying the price difference plus tax. DFWChild reported in July that there is no regular discount for local residents. A pass is the main way to pay less for repeat visits.
Against single-day tickets, any pass pays for itself quickly. One-day admission runs $49.99 to $79.99 per person depending on the date, and children under 2 get in free. Two visits on higher-priced days already cost more than a Silver pass. So the real question is which days you plan to go.
Where the Silver blockouts land this fall
The blockout dates below come from the list published when passes launched in May. Universal has since posted an updated blockout calendar image, so check the official annual pass page before you plan around any one date.
October. Silver is blocked out October 17, 24 and 31. All three are Saturdays. Halloween runs October 2 through November 1. That leaves four Halloween Saturdays starting today, and Silver can use only one of them, October 10. The Sundays are all open to Silver, including the season's last day, November 1.
November. Silver has no blockout dates, but the park itself closes November 3–4, 10–11 and 17–18, all Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and on Thanksgiving. This is the month when every pass tier gets the same access.
December. Silver is blocked out December 12, 19 and 20 and every day from December 26 through 30. That covers two weekends before Christmas and most of the week between Christmas and New Year's, when local kids are out of school. The park is closed December 25.
Altogether, Silver loses 11 dates between now and the end of the year. That's a short list, but most of those dates are ones a family with school-age kids would actually use.
What removing the blockouts costs a family of four
Pass prices are per person, but parking is per vehicle. The writer who reported the May pricing said families need only one parking pass per vehicle. Without a parking pass, regular parking costs $20 plus tax per visit, and rates are seasonal and can change by day. Here is the math for two adults and two children, using the prices above before tax:
| Setup | Pass cost | Parking | Blockouts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Four Silver passes | $519.96 | $20 per visit | Yes |
| Three Silver plus one Silver with Parking | $554.96 | Included for one car | Yes |
| Four Gold passes | $799.96 | Included | None |
Adding parking to one Silver pass costs $35. That is less than two $20 parking fees, so it pays off on your second visit. Going from the mixed Silver setup to four Gold passes adds $245. For a family of four, that $245 buys the 11 blocked dates this fall, the blockouts that continue into 2027, and the in-park discounts.
Next year's Silver blockouts include March 13–21 and most weekends in May through August. If your household's free time is mostly Saturdays, Gold costs about $61 more per person over the full pass year. If your family can go on Sundays and weekday afternoons, the Silver math holds up well.
The Halloween season is included with admission
Halloween is a big reason to go on those October dates. Isle of Curiosity is hosting Monster Tots Superfan Spooktacular, a Halloween Costume Parade led by Gabby and her friends, and six "Trick for Treat" game stations. The costumes the team members wear were designed and sewn at the park. The show and the parade run several times a day, and costumes are welcome but not required. One family guide reports that these activities come with regular park admission, with no separate Halloween ticket. Cuffe has also said more Halloween surprises are coming.
Universal has not announced a December holiday overlay. Plan your December visits around the hours.
Late-fall hours favor weeknight visits
Hours change through the season. Most October weekdays run 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. October 9–11 is the longest stretch of the month, open until 8 p.m. each night, and October 10 is the one Halloween Saturday still open to Silver. In late November the schedule changes. The park opens at noon and closes at 8 p.m. on November 20–25 and 29–30, and on most weekdays from December 1 through 17. A report on the fall and holiday schedule described it as a shift to later closings.
For a household 10 minutes away, a noon-to-8 weekday is the kind of day a pass is made for. You can make an evening visit after school on a date no tier blocks out, and Silver covers it as fully as Gold. The park is built for children ages 4 to 8, with 12 outdoor rides and short walks between attractions, so a short visit fits its layout. Outside food isn't allowed beyond baby and medical necessities, but refillable water bottles are, and there are filling stations outside the restrooms.
Getting in and out is easier than it was a year ago
Short visits only work if getting there is quick, and the road network around the park has changed this year. The six-lane Panther Creek Parkway extension between the Dallas North Tollway and Preston Road opened in late October 2025 with a signal at Universal Parkway. The City of Frisco turned on a new signal at Dallas Parkway, Fields Parkway and Universal Parkway on June 2. On June 4 it fully opened that signal and the connection between Fields Parkway and Universal Parkway that runs under the tollway.
One project is still underway. On October 2, Teel Parkway traffic between Fields Parkway and Rockhill Parkway moved to the new northbound bridge, with one lane in each direction while construction continues. Community Impact lists early 2027 for completion. Mayor Jeff Cheney told WFAA that mixing office, tourism and entertainment along the Dallas North Tollway helps spread traffic across the day.
If you have an NTTA TollTag, the parking plaza has dedicated TollTag lanes. The hotel is reached through a separate lot at 5700 Panther Creek Parkway, which is useful to know if you're picking up visiting family who are staying there. The 300-room Universal Kids Resort Hotel sits at the park entrance.
Before or after, close by
New businesses are opening around the park. Dar Coffee opened June 26 at 11030 Panther Creek Parkway. The Brunch District opened near the resort this summer, and its manager told WFAA he expects business to grow as the resort and the Fields and PGA development fill in. For families using a Gold pass, the 10% Friends & Family discount makes a visit with relatives in town a little cheaper.
The resort, new road connections and new businesses are changing the area around Fields Parkway and Panther Creek Parkway quickly. If you own a home in north Frisco and want to know how buyers are valuing that area now that the park is open, The Deann Abbott Group can prepare a complimentary home valuation using what is selling near the new corridor.
